On Friday, December 20, 2024, the sophomores, juniors, and seniors had an incredibly meaningful day at the Nova Music Festival Exhibition in Miami. 10th, 11th, and 12th graders were taken separately to ensure that every student’s experience could be as meaningful as possible.
The exhibition showcases the tragedies and horrors that took place at the Nova Festival on October 7th, 2023. It begins with a short movie covering what the Nova Festival is all about and what it brings to life.
The exhibit then continues into a room, simulating certain aspects of what happened at the festival. The room shows panels with many survivors’ stories, as well as commemorations of those who were murdered at the festival.
Both students and teachers were deeply moved by the presentation.
Rabbi Alpert shared, “It was very meaningful, and made my passion for Israel, and our brothers and sisters, much stronger.”
As visitors continued walking through the room, they reached a room with images of the unfortunate hundreds of hostages kidnapped on October 7th.
The last room has a pond with rocks around it, where visitors could write their own message. It also featured a wall with another movie clip about healing after the festival.
Students truly appreciated the opportunity to visit such a special exhibit.
“This made me feel very connected because, when I visited Israel during the summer, I visited the Nova grounds and chose a name of a victim I wanted to daven for; when we visited, I got to meet the mother of that girl,” shared Abigail Eliav (11th).
Visiting the Nova Exhibition was extremely important for the students of Hebrew Academy because it further exposed them to the tragic horrors that occurred on October 7th, enabling them to connect themselves even more with our Jewish brothers and sisters.
